WELCOME TO M.I.A

M.I.A Surf Camp is a beachfront camp overlooking five different reef breaks which cater to all board riders of all levels. The Mentawai's are undoubtedly one of the best surfing destinations on the planet. Not many other places can find the perfection, consistency, and number of breaks in such a small area. People travel from all over the globe to surf Mentawai Island's perfect waves they see online and in surfing videos/magazines. There are plenty of breaks in our area (playgrounds) suitable for beginners as well.

Your experience at M.I.A Surf Camp is paramount, and it's for this reason we limit our numbers to a maximum of only eight guests at any one time. This boutique-style is a more personal experience, and surpassing expectations is our goal. For us, our trips are not about reaching high numbers but delivering great experiences (and waves) at a very reasonable price.

M.I.A Surf Camp is in the Northern Mentawai Islands on Nyang Nyang Island. We are right in front of a break named Nipussi, which is the most consistent, user-friendly wave in the region by far. We also have another four surf breaks on our doorstep that are more suited to the advanced surfers and bodyboarders, one of which is the world-famous Bank Vaults.

All five breaks are visible from the surf camp, so even between surfs, you're constantly watching epic surf.

We have a relaxed atmosphere here at M.I.A Surf Camp, and we want you to feel at home during your stay, getting some of the best surf of your life and experiencing the chilled Mentawai way of life. We know you will fall in love with the waves, the camp, the food, the islands, and the people.

TRADITIONAL BUILT BUNGALOWS "UMA'S"

Our beautiful beach-front surf camp features two traditional bungalows that only throw stones from the water's edge. They feature Italian-made pillow-top mattresses and linen with mosquito nets, fans, lockable wardrobes, international wall sockets, and large spacious balconies with fixed bench sofas and removable hammocks, perfect for chilling out, read a book. All five reef breaks are visible from both bungalows; you can see the waves from your bed; choose which one to surf as the sun rises over the horizon and paddle out.

Each bungalow has its own separate en-suite with western toilets and showers; both also have an outside beach shower and board racks.

A couple's room is also available upon request.

MAIN HOUSE, BAR & SOCIAL AREA:

Our main building, located 25m from the Nipussi keyhole, has just had a significant upgrade, where guests spend most of their time lounging around or having a beer and socialising in between surf sessions.

At the bar, we sell various beers and the occasional liquor (you're welcome to bring duty-free), soft drinks, and specialty snacks. Our bartender/masseuse will deliver your bar balance on the last day of your trip. This house also has our TV area, coffee & tea (free of charge), a range of board games, library, dartboard, ping-pong table, bean bags, and hammocks for chilling in between your surf sessions.

Our separate dining area is a new area where we enjoy meals and display your surf photos from the day before on the TV. In addition, the wave of the day will receive a free beer!!. There will also be extra snacks (free of charge) in this area which you are more than welcome to help yourself.
Our lounge area has satellite cable, and this is the best area for WiFi. with your loved ones and brag about your trip.

SPEEDBOAT:

Our speedboat has 2 x 40 hp engines with a cruising speed of 30 knots to make it a quick journey, and we also have a small runabout which is available in case there are only a few people in the group.
We also make sure we have lots of snacks and refreshments on board.
There is also a chance to fish, spearfish, and snorkel at every surf spot, so there is something for everyone.

We have ten years of experience in the area and always have a surf guide to make sure you score the best waves. With over 25+ accessible breaks in the area, we can guarantee you will achieve waves every day of your trip.
