OUR FIVE REEF BREAKS

M.I.A Surfcamp is blessed with five accessible reef breaks directly in front of the camp, with Nipussi being one of the most consistent waves in the region. All five reef breaks are visible from our beachside bungalows, and because access is so easy, you can paddle out anytime you please for a surf.

NIPUSSI

Nipussi is the most consistent, friendliest right-hander in the whole of Mentawai area. It's the 'go to' wave.  Nipussi picks up any type of swell and is able to be surfed at all tide levels.  The key hole is literally 30m from M.I.A main house.

M.I.A PEAK

M.I.A Peak keyhole is only 30m from Bungalow II. This left & right wave is often overlooked which means you can guarantee it won't have a crowd on it. M.I.A Peak works best at high tide and can form amazing barrels when the conditions are perfect.

THE KLIT

The Klit is a wave right next to Nipussi which is another right hander.  Perfect for both confident surfers, and body-boarders, this shallow, reef freight train is one of the best waves in the area and is not for the faint-hearted.  The Klit is in the owners top three waves of the area.

PIGGYBANKS

This wave is located next to The Klit and is very similar in weight and style. Not for the faint-hearted, Piggy banks is a heavy right slab which ends in about 1 ft. of water. But can also throw out the squarest spitting barrels of the area at 4foot or less.

BANKVAULTS

Bankvaults is one of the most well-known waves in the area.  It’s a heavy long right hander which which really turns on with a swell over 6 foot, but can also be surfed from 2 foot and up to 15ft++.  Bankvaults is 300m from camp, which you can access from the beach. And watch in awe from the comfort of your bungalow.
